Saving Your Ass!

Big Ass Fans has a thing for asses. Ass is in our name and on our logo after all.(We're talking about donkeys here people!) Because we like donkeys so much we can't stand by and see homeless donkeys suffer. That's why all proceeds from the sales of our Big Ass Fans logo merchandise goes straight to the Longhopes Donkey Shelter in Bennett, Colorado.

The shelter came about in August of 1999 after Kathy Dean realized there were far too many lonely, unloved donkeys in the world. So she bought 20 acres of land and set about gathering all the donkeys she could find. Initially her herd consisted of one 42-year-old donkey that went by the name of Rocky. After Rocky came five more, and before she knew it Kathy had a full-blown operation on her hands.

By 2000 Kathy and Longhopes had its own Board of Directors and had acquired 501 (c)(3) tax exempt non-profit status. They built a second barn and fenced in a new pasture and were ready to take in more donkeys than ever.

So far the good folks at Longhopes have rescued over 275 donkeys, with 247 of those finding their way to new homes. You can find out more about Longhopes and its donkey residents, make a donation, or even sponsor your own little furry ass at www.longhopes.org. Talk about saving your ass!
