About AirGo

How do I clean my fan?

Unplug the fan and dust the airfoils and motor. To access the airfoils and motor, remove the upper section of the fan cage. If desired, use a gentle cleaner or degreasing agent to polish the airfoils. Do not use Clorox® or other chlorine-based cleaners! This could result in the release of toxic/fatal fumes. Do not use cleansers inside the control enclosure.

How do I know if I have an AirGo 2.0 or an AirGo 1.0?

The most obvious visible difference between an AirGo 2.0 and an AirGo 1.0 is the method of control.  An AirGo 1.0 has a large shoe-box-shaped control with a red disconnect switch and buttons to control on/off and speed.  The AirGo 2.0 has a larger square box with a singular knob for both on/off and speed.

Controlling AirGo

Do I operate the ion technology separately from the fan?

No. The Big Ass Fans’ Clean Air System ionizer will operate at any point when your Big Ass fan is receiving power.

How do I operate my AirGo 2.0 fan?

Plug the power cord into a suitable receptacle when the fan is in a stationary position with the casters locked and braked. The fan may begin to rotate upon connection to power.

To turn the fan on and off, press the control knob. The LED indicator is lit when the fan is on. The indicator will flash an error code if there is a problem with the fan.

To increase fan speed, turn the control knob clockwise.

To decrease fan speed, turn the control knob counterclockwise.

To unplug the fan, grasp the plug and remove it from the receptacle. Do not unplug the fan by pulling on the cord.

How do I operate the AirGo Misting System?

Water supply requirements: 15–60 PSI, 140°F (60°C) max

Do not operate the misting pump without the filter.
Do not plug the fan into an outlet on the misting pump.

To operate the AirGo Misting System:

  1. Turn off the fan.
  2. Plug in the misting pump (20 A circuit).
  3. Turn on the water source.
  4. Press the red button on the pump filter to purge air.
  5. Flip the pump Power switch to ON.
  6. Press the pump Start switch.
  7. Turn on the fan.

To stop misting, flip the Power switch to OFF and turn off the water source.

How do I operate my AirGo 1.0 fan?

To turn on the fan, press “Run.”

To stop the fan, press “Stop.”

To adjust the speed of the fan, use the up and down arrow buttons.

My fan will not start.

If the fan is rotating slower than 10 RPM, the airfoils must stop moving before the motor will turn on. Wait for the airfoils to stop moving.

If the fan is motionless and will not start, verify the following:

  • The fan is plugged in.
  • The fan is turned on.
  • The supply power is adequate and functional.

If the fan still does not start, contact Customer Service.

Trouble with Something Else

What do I do if the ion generators get wet?

Turn the fan on immediately after the ion generators get wet to dry the generators.

Why is the LED indicator on my fan blinking?

This is indicating a fault code. Big Ass Fans have built-in checks that look for both internal and external faults.

If the fan currently has a fault, the LED indicator will blink a set number of times, then pause for four seconds. The number of times the indicator flashes before pausing indicates the fault. View the full list of fault codes.

A popping noise is coming from my fan.

Airfoil noise occurs when airfoils are not tightened to the specified torque. Disconnect the fan from power and disassemble the cage. Tighten the airfoil hardware to 29 ft·lb (39.3 N·m). Replace the cage before connecting the fan to power. If popping still occurs, contact Customer Service.

How do I replace a fuse on my fan?

To replace a fuse:

  1. Unplug the fan.
  2. Remove the six screws to open the controller enclosure.
  3. Gently twist and pull out the fuse holder and replace the fuse.
  4. Reinstall the fuse holder.
  5. Reattach the enclosure cover.

Suitable fuse replacements:

  • Bussman S505 Series
  • Littelfuse 215 Series
  • Mersen Fuse GSF
  • Bel Fuse 5HT
The misting pump does not work.

Water pressure or the power supply may not be adequate.

  • Make sure power is turned on and is adequate (20 A circuit). Check your circuit breaker or fuse for functionality.
  • If water pressure is low or an air bubble occurs, the low pressure switch on the pump trips. Press and hold the red button on the pump filter until water runs through the system.
  • Make sure the pump’s Power switch is flipped to ON and power is applied.
  • Check the filter. If it is dirty or clogged, contact Customer Service to purchase a replacement.
The misting nozzles are not working properly.

The nozzles may be clogged or the water pressure may not be adequate.

  • Clean the misting nozzles using a commercial mineral deposit cleaner such as Orbit® Misting Nozzle Cleaner or Lime-A-Way®. Big Ass Fans recommends cleaning the nozzles annually to prevent clogs caused by mineral deposits. Depending on the mineral content of the water, the nozzles may need to be cleaned more frequently. Click here for cleaning instructions.
  • Check the misting pump’s pressure gauge. Make sure the water pressure is between 800 and 1,000 PSI. If it is less than 800 PSI, contact Customer Service.
The water from the misting system has a musty odor.

If the misting system has not been used for a long period of time, water left in the system may produce a musty odor.

Why is the AirGo 1.0 keypad showing “OU” or some other code?

This is most likely a fault code. Big Ass Fans have built-in checks that look for both internal and external faults.

If your keypad reads “OU”, this means that the fan received a power spike from your building’s power.

Regardless of the fault code, press the red “Stop” button to clear it.
