Which Big Ass Fans models are Matter compatible?
Our current generation of small residential ceiling fans are compatible. This includes i6, Haiku, Haiku I, Haiku L, Haiku Coastal and all our WiFi-enabled ceiling fan products going forward.
Which Big Ass Fans models are NOT Matter compatible?
Our portfolio of large industrial and commercial fans, evaporative coolers, and directional fans are not Matter compatible.
Will my older Big Ass Fans model be Matter compatible?
All i6 and Haiku Coastal models will be compatible with Matter. Select Haiku, Haiku I and Haiku L models will be Matter-compatible depending on purchase date. You can check compatibility of your Haiku, Haiku I and Haiku L by downloading the Big Ass Fans app. If you have further questions, please contact us.
What do I need to set up my Big Ass Fan with Matter?
You will need a Matter-capable hub (for example: Apple, Google, Alexa, or Samsung) and a Matter-compatible Big Ass Fan. See above for a list of our Matter-compatible fans.
How do I set up my fan with Matter?
  1. Verify your Big Ass Fan is powered on.
  2. Locate the QR code that came with your fan or copy its Matter setup code using the Big Ass Fans app.
  3. Download the Apple Home, Google Home, Amazon Alexa, Samsung SmartThings, or any app for a Matter-capable hub and open it.
  4. Follow the instructions for adding a Matter-enabled device to Apple, Google, Amazon, Samsung, or any app for a Matter-capable hub.
What Big Ass Fans features are available with Matter?
  • Control your fan and light using voice assistants.
  • Control your fan’s speed.
  • Control your light’s brightness and color temperature (if applicable).
  • Access your fan’s motion, temperature, or humidity sensor (if applicable).
  • Set up advanced scenes, routines, or automation using your preferred platform.
What Big Ass Fans features are not available with Matter?
  • Fan and Light Auto – enabling AUTO using the Big Ass Fans app or Bluetooth Remote will cause your fan to automate its behavior outside of Matter. While the fan speed and light brightness are available in Matter, the state of fan/light AUTO is not.
  • Grouping – Any groups that are set up in the Big Ass Fans app will continue to work outside of Matter. For grouping, we suggest either to use Matter, or Big Ass Fans, but not both.
  • Scheduling – Same as grouping, any schedules set up in the Big Ass Fans app will continue to work outside of Matter. For scheduling, we suggest either to use Matter, or Big Ass Fans, but not both.
How do I remove my fan from Matter?
Remove the device using the platform where you initially added it (Apple Home, Google Home, Amazon Alexa, or Samsung Smartthings).
