My Essence dial is flashing 7 times
Your Essence is not responding and has a 7-flash error? Follow these troubleshooting steps.
1. Turn the breaker to the fan OFF.
2. Verify if the yellow and blue wires located at the end of the gray low-voltage control cable are terminated correctly. If not, terminate them per the electrical installation instructions. Turn the breaker ON and test the fan. If this resolves the issue, you are finished.
3. If the above steps did not resolve the issue, turn the breaker OFF and check the low-voltage control cable molex connector located behind the REV/FWD switch plate on the extension tube for continuity on the yellow and blue wires passing between the male and female connectors. Also check for continuity from these connectors to the end of the gray low-voltage cable. If there is a loss of continuity on the cable, it will need to be replaced in the event a fire relay is needed to interface with a Fire Alarm Control Panel (FACP).
4. If continuity on the connectors is good through and to the end of the gray low-voltage cable, move to the source location behind the motor wiring service cover. Four staggered screws at the top will allow the cover to be removed.
5. Verify the green connector on the right side with the yellow and blue wires is seated on the pins. If it is seated, perform the following jumper test:
A. Carefully remove the green connector from the board.
B. On the connector remove the blue wire on the left, and the yellow wire on the right.
C. Use a scrap piece of wire about 3–4 inches long and strip each end. Insert this “U” shaped wire into the green connector and tighten the screws down just snug — do not over-tighten. This will be the run-enable “bypass wire.”
D. Make sure the fan blades are clear of any obstacles and then turn the circuit breaker ON. A non-working fan indicates the motor needs to be replaced.
