Powerfoil D Not Shutting Down on Fire Alarm

Your Powerfoil D is not shutting down when your fire alarm goes off? Follow these troubleshooting steps.

1. If using the factory-supplied relay that is pre-installed on the fire alarm terminals, verify that your fire panel is sending 24 volts DC to the cable going to the fans.

2. If the correct voltage is supplied, make sure that the cable going from the fire panel is actually hooked up to the relay’s red positive and white negative wires.

3. If both of the above are confirmed, remove the relay and place a jumper wire into the “SFR-1” and “SFR-2” terminals it was previously on. If upon powering up the fan it immediately goes to an “External Fault” on the keypad and it cannot be cleared, the relay is bad and needs to be replaced. Contact Big Ass Fans for a replacement.

4. If using a third-party relay, make sure that the behavior of the relay is similar to our own in that it provides a dry contact between terminals “SFR-1” and “SFR-2” on alarm.
