Hearing a noise from your Powerfoil X, X2.0, X3.0, or X4 as it runs? Try these troubleshooting steps.

1. Check whether the noise is present at all speeds or only one range of speed (e.g., only below 20% or when coming to a stop).

2. Check that the fan is hanging plumb, horizontally level, and free from wobble as it runs.

3. Record a brief video of the noise.

4. Remove the motor from the gear-reducer collar by loosening the four unpainted bolts holding it in place. Spin the motor spline and fan hub independently by hand to listen and “feel” for the source of the noise, which is more commonly the motor than the gear-reducer.

5. Record the model and serial number information found on or inside the VFD enclosure (varies by model/series) and contact Customer Support.
