Fan is wobbling
Is your ceiling fan experiencing wobble during operation? Follow these troubleshooting steps.
If your fan is experiencing wobble, you could have an issue with a portion of the installation process. Common sources of wobble are loose blade seatings, incorrect blade seat matches, or instabilities in the fan mount or junction box.
- Verify that the color dots on the airfoils match the corresponding location on the motor.
- Ensure blades are neither loose nor overtightened. Tighten blade screws until comfortably hand‑tight using a handheld screwdriver only—do not use power tools. Verify blades sit evenly around the motor, do not contact the light kit, and show consistent spacing around the fan.
- Verify that the mounting ball and downrod assembly are properly seated in the mounting bracket. The metal wedge that secures the downrod must be fully seated inside the mounting ball, and the set screw should be fully tightened.
- Ensure that the cutout in the mounting ball is properly aligned and resting on the rib inside the mounting bracket.
- Confirm the fan is mounted to a junction box rated for ceiling fans (minimum 35 lbs). The junction box must be securely fastened to a joist, wood block, or approved mounting brace and sit flush with the ceiling surface.
- Make sure the mounting bracket is tightly secured to the junction box using both mounting screws. The bracket should not move when pushed from different angles.
